Hi! I’m Yuankai Fan 范元凯;

I am a Researcher at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, China Telecom (TeleAI ). I received my Ph.D in CS from FDU under the guidance of Prof. X. Sean Wang (and Prof. Zhenying He) (2017-2023). My research lies at the intersection of AI infrastructure, machine learning systems, and database systems, with a particular focus on: 1) Data & AI Infra: multimodal data processing & management and distributed caching systems; 2) Distributed Training: dynamic parallelism; 3) Efficient Inference: quantization and sparsity; 4) AI4DB: nl2sql.

Before joining the AI Infrastructure Research Center at TeleAI, I was a postdoctoral researcher at FDU (2023-2024), with a primary focus on database systems. Prior to that, I worked for Microsoft about seven years (2016-2023), and one year for EMC (2015-2016).

I’am looking for highly motivated students who can intern in Shanghai for 3+ months. If you’re passionate about AI systems, please email me your CV. Experience with deep learning training/inference frameworks (deepspeed/megatron-lm/vllm/xdit), distributed caching systems (mooncake/dynamo), or distributed computing framworks (ray/spark) is a plus but not required.
